Justin Mendoza is an aspiring television news reporter who hopes to bring you the latest and important news in your community.

A Bay Area native, Justin is a proud graduate of San Francisco State University. He earned a degree in Radio and Television with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism.

He was bitten by the news bug at a very early age. Growing up in Daly City, California, he remembers waking up in the early morning on a school day to watch Channel 7 News (with Sydnie Kohara), and staying up late to watch the 11 o’clock edition with Dan Ashley and Terilyn Joe.

His experience as a news anchor, reporter, and producer for San Francisco State University’s cable news program State of Events has given him a “hands on” experience of what it is like to work in a news environment. He confirmed that informing the community with news that can change people’s lives, and working in the newsroom is the place he wants work at for the rest of his career.

In addition to State of Events, he honed his skills through internships at KRON 4, KPIX, and KGO-TV in San Francisco. Currently, he is working as a Production Assistant at KGO-TV.

He is a hard news junkie, but he also like features and softer stories. And this profession enables him to tell those types of stories. That is why his ultimate career goal is to return to the Bay Area as a television (and possibly online) news reporter.

He is a member of the Asian American Journalist Association. At SFSU, he was an active member of the College Students in Broadcasting.

In his spare time, he likes to read, eat (admits he is a fast food junkie), watch television (especially the NEWS!) and movies, listen to music, and spend time with family and friends.

He cannot wait to land his first reporting job in a local market to inform you what is going on in your community.
